BOY MEETS BOY / UK is the second from a series of events that will take place in several European cities to promote the crowdfunding campaign for BOY MEETS BOY, the first long feature film of Manchego independent director Daniel Sanchez Lopez. A gay ‘before sunrise’ on MDMA in Berlin.

The artist-led Mirabel Studios will host our Manchester gathering, where we’ll screen a selection of LGBTI+ short films by the Manchego filmmaker and special guests, followed by a conversation with them.

The iconic Gris Bar in Chueca will host our Madrid gathering, where we’ll screen the first two LGBTQI+ short movies of the Manchego director, followed by our DJs that will keep the party hot and popping until late into the night.

UN POQUITO DE GAZPACHO, ANYONE??? 


Hello little nebulas of Berlin, we are back again with Cosmic Kino #5, giving you a star studded line up of steamy Spanish melodrama and fierce felines leaving a blazing trail through the streets of 1980ties Madrid. If gazpacho served cold with a side of crunched Sanax makes you giddy with exitement or you ever felt perplexed and utterly in love with Candelas perfectly shaped espresso maker earrings, well then this is your night. We invite you to take part in an evening at Loophole filled with fast paced comedy and continous exploration of the female psyche.

First up we screen the stylish short film with hints of drama “Out” by Gsus Lopez, starring the fabulous Jeff Kristian as Mary. Mary is a divorced middle aged woman and effortless drama queen who lives with her teenager daughter Rachel in a small town in England. Mary is immersed in the small town life and cares imensely about society and what people think of her. As a single mother she juggles the roles of father and mother. Her life will takes a drastic turn when her twenty something son returns to the village with one purpose: to come out as gay.

“Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown” is Pedro Almodovar’s thrilling tale of women, and the men who pursue them. Finding them, losing them, needing them and rejecting them. Hilarious and melodramatic, with hints of black comedy, Almodovar continues to explore the female in society and proves that the male view quoted by local taxi driver “A lady’s no dangerous if you know how to handle her” is tremendously wrong. A woman can handle it alone, and ALWAYS with grand novelty earrings.

Dear sailors of the cosmic seas, 

Does the themes of mortality, existentialism and french feminism also bring clusters of stars to your eyes? Well here at cosmic we cannot wait a second longer to introduce to you the fourth edition of Cosmic Kino, which will be in the name of Nouvelle Vague and feminism, showcasing the works of two radical and inspiring female directors. 

Have we sparked your interest? Then we gently ask you to drop your oars into the liquid diamond expanse and let yourself be swept away in the whirlpools of time, to the bustling of bohemian Paris. 

The landmark film “CLÉO DE 5 À 7” is set in the year 1961, where we follow the singer Cleo, as she drifts through the city of love, awaiting the results of a biopsy for cancer. Agnes Varda, goddess of Nouvelle Vague, chronicles the desperate hours in the life of a woman as she visits friends, spends money and tries to sing her worries away. The film is set in real time, it’s various episodes divided by the use of significant tarot cards. The oppressiveness and stereotyping of the woman is depicted through the lines “As long as I’m beautiful I’m alive”, portraying the view of many french women of the time, namely that beauty is essential above all else. 

But this is not all, my atomic stars. From the far away lands of Israel, we are honoured to introduce the director Tom-Lee Ziegelman who will capture our hearts with her short film “18 OVER”.

Not only did she magnetize us with her golden beauty, her idealism and emotional pondering about love in the Before Sunrise Trilogy, but she also eloquently put into words her more melancholic discoveries about relationships: Even being alone, it’s better than sitting next to a lover and feeling lonely”. Well we here at Cosmic couldn’t agree more and we have an important message to our celestial beings around the world: If you find yourself Valentine-less on the 14th or if you live by the motto: be your own Valentine, then come join us and spend the evening surrounded by like-minded individuals taking part in the exiting programme we’ve lined up for you! 

We introduce to you the Third edition of Cosmic Kino, a monthly event that gathers filmmakers, film lovers and friends to enjoy exclusive films, essential cult movies or forgotten gems from the past.

We have been bursting with excitement to announce that we will be screening the short-documentary “Alyha Love” made by our friend and colleague filmmaker Savio Debernardis. “Alyha Love” is a beautiful and intimate picture of Alyha, made in 2017 in Berlin. 

“Alyha Love is a walking contradiction, a typical child of the generation Y. Her life oscillates between her passions and others' expectations, between the search for love and the struggle to feel completely herself. In her journey, she overcomes geographical and gender barriers and to land in Berlin, where, surrounded by like-minded people, she tries to find herself without getting lost.”

Director and crew would be present to talk about the film after the screening.

If this already sounds too good to be true, well then hold on tight dear children of cosmos because there is more! After the screening of “Alyha love”, we will celebrate the beginning of the biggest film festival in town, BERLINALE. 
First with the eclectic and subversive B1SELF and later on with Alyha. They will sweep us away into the starry night with tunes that will make your hips swing like the rings of Jupiter and as we twirl with the currents of life we will be drawn together in love.

For months we have anticipated this evening, and thought of all the milky ways that we could make it the most heavenly. We’ll not only show you the beautiful pastel universe of Navegando and give you a special concert with the band Habla de mí en Presente, but to end it all off our DJ’s of the night will play some sweet italo disco that will make you dance like meteors shooting through the night!

Dear Cosmic Constellations. 

We hereby introduce to you the second edition of Cosmic Kino, a monthly event that gather filmmakers, film lovers and friends to enjoy exclusive films, essential cult movies and forgotten gems from all the times.

This time around we will be serving face and LOTS of Ballroom Extravaganza!!! So..If you didn't get it yet, we will be showing the landmark documentary Paris is Burning from 1991. The film showcases the life of LGBTQ ballroom culture in New York City through the experiences of people of color in the late '80s and early '90s. So whether you’re a butch queen, a “realness girl” or a schoolboy, you better show up and let the world see what you’ve got! To make it even more exiting (is it possible?) we will open the night with the shortfilm "Pipe dreamer" by Canadian queer filmmaker Israel Bautista, who will also be present at the screening and do a Q&A afterwards. In "Pipe dreamer" we are taken through a journey of self discovery and unlikely connections, as two strangers make their way through the Urban jungle at dusk. We at cosmic have been dying to get this event on it's feet and we can't wait to see you all there!

Our first COSMIC project is here and we are very happy to announce it! 

SAFT plays in between drama and comedy in the middle of a secret revelation that will shake the foundations of a German family. The director, Daniel Sánchez López, shares with us his second short movie full of autobiographical hints.

After showing the film, the director and the actors will make a speech, we will have a Q&A round and a debate about the topic that our movie addresses.
